Extension of Date for Filing Objections and Imposition of Additional Tax for Personal Income Taxes issued within 2023

The Department of Taxation advises that the work to expedite clearance of Personal Income Returns for tax years 2017 and beyond continues, with thousands of tax returns being mailed to the last registered mailing address. The project will continue in the coming months with the aim of clearing all the Declarations submitted up to the year 2022.

Because there was a delay in the receipt of the Tax Enforcement Notice (TD8 form), due to the mass imposition of taxes and also the non-updating, on the part of the taxpayers, of the mailing address, the Tax Commissioner, in the context of sound administration, decided that:

(a) the right to file an objection is extended until December 31, 2023 for taxes issued within 2023 and with an objection date until December 31, 2023.

(b) no additional tax of 5% shall be imposed on assessments issued within 2023 which (i) are pending payment and (ii) have a payment date up to and including 30 November 2023, provided they are paid before 31 December 2023 .
